In Person Meeting November 19th

Up on the Housetop (Or Not!):
A Primer on VHF/UHF Antennas and Go Kits

If you missed Jerry Wellman's much-acclaimed presentation on go kits at the recent ARES/RACES conference, you'll want to attend this Salt Lake Crossroads Amateur Radio Club meeting.  You'll receive extra value for your time as Jerry (W7SAR) also will speak about VHF/UHF antennas.  If you're in a quandary about possible gifts for yourself or others this holiday season, you're sure to get a few ideas here!

Join us Thursday, November 19 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the SLC Public Safety Building, 475 South 300 East.  Enter at the door on the north side of the building.  Parking is available along 500 South (westbound one-way street in that locale) and east of the building in a small parking lot.

All are welcome, whether ham radio operators or not!

Susan

Amateur Radio: Science and Skill in Service to Your Community

Wireless communication and infrastructure are so commonplace, we don’t even give it a second
thought — until we no longer have access to it. At those times, we realize how dependent we are on the radio wave to maintain our existence.

Since the implementation of wireless communications in the early 20th century, Amateur Radio operators have consistently provided a robust, reliable network that enables messages to get through under the most extreme circumstances. Amateur Radio functions completely independent of the Internet and telecommunications infrastructure, does not have to rely on the electrical grid for power, and can be set up in a matter of minutes at almost any location.

The following document assembled by the ARRL highlights some examples of how Amateur Radio has benefited communities across the country within the last two years.
